Take a Quick Tour

Enabling Password Protection:

Before configuring advanced permissions, you need to enable the password protected plugin on your WordPress site. This feature will require visitors to enter a password before accessing your site. To enable this feature, follow these steps:

  • Go to “Password Protected” in your WordPress dashboard.
  • Click on the “General” tab.
  • Find the “Password Protected Status” option and turn it on. This is an essential step as it activates the password protection for your WordPress site.

Set New Password with Password Protected:

  • This option allows you to change the password that protects your site or content. To change the password, you need to enter a new password twice in the fields provided. Ensure the new password is strong and secure and you type it correctly in both fields.

Setting Up Custom Error Message for Sitewide Protection

The Custom Error Message feature in Password Protected Pro allows you to display a personalized message when a password expires or exceeds its usage limit. Here’s how to set it up:

Accessing the Settings

  • From your WordPress dashboard, go to Password Protected → Advanced tab.
  • Under the Advanced tab, select the Custom Error Message option.

Customizing the Message

  • The Password Expiry & Limit Error Message input field displays the default message: “Either password is expired or password’s limit exceeded.”
  • You can edit this message to something more suitable for your website.
  • After editing, click Save Changes to apply the custom message.

To preview the custom error message, simply visit the password-protected page on your site. Once the password has expired or its usage limit is exceeded, the customized error message will be displayed to users instead of the default one.
